Patrick Gomez 4 Sheriff is delighted to announce, the gallery’s second exhibition, WIVES by Petrova Giberson and Sam Moyer. The exhibition will open Wednesday September 10th with an artist’s reception from 6-9 pm.

The artists featured in the exhibition met while attending , the Yale School of Art and have remained close friends since.  Petrova relocated first to Detroit and now to the woods of New Hampshire where she lives and works; while Sam lives and works in Brooklyn.  In Sam’s words: “We like and understand each other so well that just knowing the other exist is pretty comforting.  Our lives are basically opposite, but we share a tonality and sentiment in our work; an intangible that we recognized in each other from the beginning.”

Giberson exhibits, three new wall works that toe the line between collage and sculpture, between fragility and stability.  The works are hung on the walls like tapestries and are constructed from a variety of materials.  Moyer’s work takes cues from her recent installation More Weight at Rachel Uffner, the work will consist of one large panel suspended from the ceiling, the piece augments the light cast on Giberson’s works through the subtlest of architectural interventions.

Petrova Giberson received her MFA from the Yale School of Art in 2008 and has recently exhibited her work in the 2013 deCordova Biennial at the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Lincoln, Ma., The Cave in Detroit, Mi.,  and in the group exhibitions, SLIP at Mitchell-Innes & Nash in NYC, And Culm at Night Gallery in Los Angeles, Ca.  Her work has been featured in the online magazine Ravelin.
