For Immediate Release:

PATRICK GOMEZ 4 SHERIFF Gallery is pleased to announce TREVOR HERNANDEZ: “THERE’S AN ISSUE, EVERYTHING’S OK”.

The artist, also known by his prominent Instagram moniker @GANGCULTURE, will present a new project which he initiated by publicly sharing all of his Capital One Credit Card information as well as his mailing address on a post to his personal Instagram account on June 12th, 2015 at 3pm PST.  At that time @GANGCULTURE had an audience of approximately 26,800 followers; all whom were exposed to this information with no form of instruction or notation.  This exhibition will act as an archive of this event by presenting a series of wall works that showcase and document this initial action as well as the resulting activity.  The actual Capital One credit card framed and mounted is re-imagined here as a kind of new NUDE, a portrait that not only depicts a vision of the artist in his most vulnerable state but also as a relic of this performative work.  Supplemental text-based works follow to expand on the event, documenting the purchases made as well as the resulting dialogue.  Physically absent from this exhibition are the 14 objects that have been distributed globally to the anonymous purchasers.

Trevor Hernandez received his BFA from Art Center College of Art and Design in Pasadena, California.  The artist lives and works in Los Angeles.  The gallery will host a reception at 7pm SHARP and will serve tamales from Mascota Bakery in Boyle Heights.
